Protocol 3 – Day 8 (First two DON doses)

I’ve been feeling exhausted lately, just pushing myself too hard. But starting tonight, I’m committing to total cancer care 24/7. My girls are off to their dads’ this week, visiting family in Ontario for Christmas. I’m solo until January 6th. I’m planning to rest—no driving to and from school, groceries, cooking, or chores. The only time I’d like to leave the house is for medical necessity, like HBOT sessions, PET scans, and calming walks. I’ve dubbed it “Do Nothing December,” which is all part of my glucose experiment. The catch is that you’re still busy even when you cut out the extras. Tomorrow is another DON/HBOT day; Tuesday, I’m off to Burnaby for a PET scan; Wednesday is HBOT; Thursday is for rest, and Friday is another DON/HBOT day. HBOT days are 5-6 hours long, including the commute. Sounds Zen, doesn’t it?!

I’m also taking Metformin to see if that helps keep the glucose under control. I started with 250mg a day, then 250mg twice a day and now I am at 500mg twice a day. I will sit here for a bit and see how it goes combining it with a less busy lifestyle.

Okay, so since my last update, I’ve done two doses of DON, one on December 5th and one on December 7th. I did them two days apart instead of the planned four days because I felt good and didn’t want to fall behind. So, I’m all caught up now.

The dose on Tuesday the 5th was acceptable; I’m sticking with 1.1mg/kg unless it becomes too much or too little. But for now, I think this is the effective dose that isn’t too strong. I prepped according to the protocol plans and fasted going into it. The last meal I had before DON was dinner on the 3rd. I did it this way in Protocol #1, and I’ll continue now because it works better than what I did for Protocol #2—fasting before DON works out to be around 36-40 hours.

I got nauseous around 90 minutes into the tank, but that’s it—no foam. I was bored out of my mind and didn’t think I could last past 2 hours in the tank. Then I decided to open TikTok, and holy smokes before I knew it, I had been there for about 3.5 hours. Finally, TikTok came in handy.

I ate a few times that afternoon, and then dinner was the last meal again until I did my next dose two days later, on the 7th. I stuck with 1.1mg/kg but didn’t get nauseous this time! However, I feel confident in this dose, so that’s what I’m doing tomorrow morning (December 11th).
